What Is a PDI?

The PDI (Payroll Deduction Instruction) file is a file BeneMoney provides each payroll cycle that tells you which payroll deductions to start or stop for employee BeneMoney loans. It contains two instruction types:

  • NEW Loan: begin taking a deduction for a new loan
  • STOP Payment: stop taking a deduction because a loan has been paid off or should no longer be deducted

These instructions are time‑sensitive and should be acted on before you run payroll.

 A PDI typically includes:

  • Loan Number
  • Employee Number
  • Employee First Name
  • Employee Last Name
  • Total of Payments
  • Annual Payroll Periods
  • Loan Payment Amount
  • Payroll Action (NEW Loan or STOP Payment)

**Your Team does not create or edit a PDI. You will receive the PDI from the BeneMoney Team.**

This structure allows you to enter or stop the correct deduction amounts for the right employees.

Where to Download Your PDI

Download your PDI directly from the BeneMoney Admin Portal:

  1. Log in to your BeneMoney Admin Portal
  2. Navigate to HR Management.
  3. Select Download PDI File
  4. Click PDI Data Only to download the latest file for the upcoming payroll.

Your PDI instructions should be downloaded and added into your payroll system before running each payroll.

What to Do With Your PDI

Follow these steps each payroll cycle:

  1. Download the latest PDI (see steps above).
  2. Review the file:
    1. Identify all NEW Loan records and note the Loan Payment Amount to be added.
    2. Identify all STOP Payment records and ensure those deductions are ended in payroll.
  3. Enter the instructions in your payroll system:
    1. Add deductions for NEW Loan rows using the payment amount in the PDI.
    2. Stop deductions for STOP Payment rows effective with the listed payroll.
  4. Run your Payroll

Timing

You will receive the PDI prior to running payroll. Review and act on it during your normal payroll preparation so that deductions are correctly added or stopped for that pay period.
